Dariusz Przybylski, organist and composer, b. 28th July 1984 in Konin. In 2003 he graduated from the State Secondary School of Music in Konin, where he studied organ with Hanna Buczkowska. He graduated with honors Magna cum Laude from F. Chopin Music Academy (now the Music University) in Warsaw where he studied composition with Marcin Błażewicz and organ with Andrzej Chorosiński. 

 

In the academic year 2006-07 he was granted a Socrates/Erasmus scholarship to study in the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne  composition with York Höller, electronic composition with Hans Ulrich Humpert, instrumentation with Krzysztof Meyer and organ with Johannes Geffert. 

 

In 2010, he received a doctorate in musical arts in the F. Chopin University of Music and earned the highest degree in composition Konzertexamen from the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe where he studied with Wolfgang Rihm.

 

2012/13 "contemporary music" studies in Hochschule für Musik und Darstellend Kunst Frankfurt am Main as a member of the Internationale Ensemble Modern Academy.

He has been selected to take part in the Programme for the Promotion of 13 Composers (2007-2010), organized by the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Centre.

He has participated in master classes of composition (taught by Olga Neuwirth, Paul Edlin, Dominic Muldowney, Roderick Watkins, Philip Wilby), organ music interpretation (by Karol Gołębiowski, Edgar Krapp, Gerhard Weinberger, Gary Verkade, Wolfgang Zerer), and organ improvisation (by Tomasz Adam Nowak, Daniel Roth).

 

As an organist, Dariusz Przybylski has given concerts in many Polish cities as well as abroad. New music has pride of place in his repertoire, and he has given numerous first performances of new works. He also performs as an improviser. 

 

Przybylski's music can be found on compact discs (released by DUX, Sarton, Requiem Records). Two of them are monographic albums: Work for Orchestra and Passio for 12 voices (DUX). The CD with his Bogurodzica (Mother of God, 2003) for solo organ performed by Andrzej Chorosiński on the organ of the Basilica in Licheń became a Double Platinum Disc, whereas his CDS “20 Years of the Organ Conversatorium in Legnica” (DUX) and Young Composers in Tribute to F. Chopin  (DUX) were nominated for the Fryderyk Award of the Polish music industry. The CD album Saxophone Variee recorded by Paweł Gusnar received Fryderyk Award 2013.

 

Guest lectures in New York City, Hamburg, Rome, Istanbul and Moscow. 2010/11 Visiting Professor of composition at Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea. Composer in residence at the kofomi Composers’ Forum in Mittersill 2009 (Austria), International Composers’ Academy Bad Ischl 2010 (Austria), Scratch Cantatas Festival in 2012 Niznhyi Novgorod (Russia), 2012/13 at the Vocalensemble Phoenix16 - Berlin.

 

2008-2012 chairman of the Youth Circle of the Polish Composers' Union. Member of the Polish Composers' Union, ZAiKS Society of Authors and ISCM Polish Section.

Przybylski Dariusz, organista i kompozytor; ur. 28 lipca 1984, Konin. Jest absolwentem Szkoły Muzycznej II st. w Koninie w klasie organów Hanny Buczkowskiej (dyplom w 2003). W roku 2008 ukończył z wyróżnieniem oraz medalem Magna cum Laude Uniwersytet Muzyczny Fryderyka Chopina w Warszawie w klasach kompozycji Marcina Błażewicza i organów Andrzeja Chorosińskiego. 2006-07 studiował w Hochschule für Musik w Kolonii, kompozycję u Yorka Höllera, kompozycję elektroniczną u Hansa Ulricha Humperta, instrumentację u Krzysztofa Meyera i organy u Johannesa Gefferta, jako stypendysta programu Socrates/Erasmus. 

 

W roku 2010 uzyskał stopień doktora sztuki muzycznej w Uniwersytecie Muzycznym Fryderyka Chopina oraz ukończył z wyróżnieniem studia podyplomowe (Konzertexam) w klasie kompozycji Wolfganga Rihma w Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe.

 

W roku aka­de­mic­kim 2012/13 w ramach sty­pen­dium Inter­na­tio­nale Ensem­ble Modern Aka­de­mie odbył stu­dia na kie­runku „muzyka współ­cze­sna” w Hoch­schule für Musik und Dar­stel­lende Kunst Frank­furt am Main pracując pod kierunkiem członków zespołu Ensemble Modern. 

 

Od 2008 wykłada w macierzystej uczelni kompozycję, instrumentację oraz współczesne techniki kompozytorskie. Wykładał gościnnie w Nowym Jorku, Hamburgu, Stambule, Rzymie i Moskwie, a w roku akademickim 2010/11 prowadził klasę kompozycji w Keimyung University w Daegu, Korea Południowa. 

 

Dariusz Przybylski był objęty 4-letnim programem promocyjnym "Młodzi kompozytorzy w hołdzie Fryderykowi Chopinowi"  Europejskiego Centrum Muzyki Krzysztofa Pendereckiego (2007-10)

 

W roku 2012 wziął udział w kursach kompozytorskich matrix12 zorganizowanych przez Studio Muzyki Eksperymantalnej z Freiburga, gdzie wykładowcami byli Mark Andre, Chaya Czernowin i Uros Rojko. W roku 2013 wziął udział w kursach interpretacji muzyki Stockhausena w Kuerten. Ponadto uczestniczył w kursach kompozycji prowadzonych przez Olgę Neuwirth, Paula Edlina, Dominica Muldowney’a, Kurta Schwertsika, Rodericka Watkinsa i Philipa Wilby’ego, kursach interpretacji muzyki organowej prowadzonych przez Karola Gołębiowskiego, Edgara Krappa, Thierrego Mechlera, Gerharda Weinbergera, Gary'ego Verkade, Wolfganga Zerera, kursach improwizacji organowej prowadzonych przez Tomasza Adama Nowaka, Daniela Rotha.

Dariusz Przy­byl­ski jako orga­ni­sta kon­cer­tuje w wielu mia­stach Pol­ski oraz za gra­nicą. W jego reper­tu­arze szcze­gólne miej­sce zaj­muje muzyka nowa, na swoim kon­cie posiada kil­ka­dzie­siąt pra­wy­ko­nań utwo­rów pol­skich, bia­ło­ru­skich, nie­miec­kich, angiel­skich, ukra­iń­skich, argen­tyń­skich, chiń­skich i kore­ań­skich kompozytorów.

 

Dotychczas ukazały się dwa mono­gra­ficzne albumy Dariu­sza Przy­byl­skiego zawie­ra­jące utwory orkie­strowe i kon­certy Works for Orche­stra oraz utwory wokalne Passio for 12 voices w wydawnictwie DUX, ponadto utwory Przybylskiego dostępne są na kilkudziesięciu wydanych płytach CD (wyd. DUX, Fortune, Polmic, Sarton). Płyta z nagraniem utworu Bogurodzica na organy solo (2003) w wykonaniu Andrzeja Chorosińskiego na organach Bazyliki w Licheniu otrzymała status Podwójnej Platynowej Płyty, zaś płyty 20 lat Conversatorium Organowego w Legnicy (DUX) oraz Młodzi Kompozytorzy w Hołdzie Chopinowi(DUX) zostały nominowane do nagrody Fryderyk. Album saksofonisty Pawła Gusnara Saxophone Variee zawierający kompozycję Przybylskiego (wyd. DUX) otrzymał nagrodę Fryderyk 2013. 

 

W roku 2009 został zaproszony w charakterze composer in residence do Mittersill (Austria) - Komponisten Forum Mittersill kofomi, w roku 2010 do Bad Ischl (Austria) - International Composers' Academy, a w roku 2012 do Niżnego Nowgorodu (Rosja) - Scratch-Cantatas Festival. W sezonie 2012/13 Dariusz Przybylski był kompozytorem-rezydentem berlińskiego zespołu wokalnego Phønix16.

 

W latach 2008-12 pełnił funkcję przewodniczącego Koła Młodych Związku Kompozytorów Polskich. Jest członkiem Polskiego Towarzystwa Muzyki Współczesnej (członek Zarządu 2013-15), ZAiKS (wiceprzewodniczący Sekcji Autorów Dzieł Muzyki Poważnej 2013-17) oraz Związku Kompozytorów Polskich (członek Zarządu 2013-15).

 

W roku 2008 był dyrek­to­rem Mię­dzy­na­ro­do­wego Kon­kursu Kom­po­zy­tor­skiego im. Kazi­mie­rza Serockiego w War­sza­wie, a od roku 2012 jest dyrek­to­rem Kon­kursu Muzyki XX i XXI Wieku dla Młodych Wyko­naw­ców w Radziejowicach.  

 

W roku 2012 dr Dariusz Przy­byl­ski został wybrany na sta­no­wi­sko pro­dzie­kana Wydziału Kom­po­zy­cji, Dyry­gen­tury i Teo­rii Muzyki Uni­wer­sy­tetu Muzycz­nego Fry­de­ryka Cho­pina w War­sza­wie (kaden­cja 2012–2016).

Dariusz Przybylski's primary interest lies in performing older as well as contemporary music. He has scores of world premiere performances to his credit. In particular, he seeks to promote the works of young composers.

 

In 2008, for the inauguration of the new organ at the Cathedral of Olsztyn, he premiered organ transcriptions of works by Krzysztof Penderecki. 

 

As an organist he participated in numerous festivals, including: Musica Polonica Nova (Wroclaw, 2014), Organ Music Conversatorium (Legnica, 2014), Internationales Festival Provinzlärm (Germany, Eckernfoerde, 2013), Stockhausen Kurse 2013 (Germany, Kuerten),  January Music Nights Festival (Belarus, Brest, 2012, 2013), Festival of Passion Music (Poznan, 2012), International Festival Contrasts (Lvov, 2011), Anima Mundi Festival (Kielce, 2010), Gotland Orgeldagar (Visby, Sweden,  2007 and 2008), The International Organ Festival of Westphalia-Lippe (Munster, 2008), the  "Dialogi" International Festival (Minsk, 2007) , Warsaw Autumn (Concerts of the Youth Circle of Polish Composers' Union 2006-2008, 2011), The International Festival of Organ Music in Swieta Lipka, (2008), International Festival of Sacred Music, (Warsaw, 2005), International Soirees of Organ and Chamber Music (Klodzko, 2004), Mikolow Music Days (Mikolow, 2005), International Music Days of Cracovian Composers (2006), Music Days (Pasym, 2006). 

 

He was a prizewinner in the following organ competitions: in 2001, Second Prize (no First Prize was awarded) as well as the Marian Sawa Special Prize at the IV Competition of Polish Organ Music of the XX Century in Legnica; in 2005, Main Prize at the VI Music Competition of XX and XXI Century Music for Young Performers in Warsaw, organized by the Polish Society of Contemporary Music (the Polish Section of the ISCM).
